El Camino Real Vineyard is located within the prestigious Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey. In Spanish, “arroyo seco” means “dry riverbed.” The vines are literally planted in well-drained sandy loam with fist-sized cobblestones. The vineyard’s name refers to the “The Royal Road” that connected the 21 missions in California. The region’s cool climate with morning fog and afternoon breezes allows the full development of ripe fruit flavors and the preservation of balanced acidity.
